Fr. Kapaun Anniversary and Masses

May 23, 2022 marks the 71st Anniversary of Father Kapaun’s Death. In addition to Masses and visits on that day, there are a couple of other ways to celebrate Father Kapaun coming up.

Memorial Day, May 30
Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Wichita: 9:00 AM
Pray at Father Kapaun’s Tomb: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (use code on keypad by doors)

Father Kapaun Day, June 5
Mass at St. John Nepomucene, Pilsen: 11:00 AM
Lunch to follow. The museum will be open for tours.

Meditation on Father Kapaun’s Death:

“It’s tough, but remember one thing: that if something happens you are in God’s hands.”

These words of Father Kapaun on the battlefield capture his complete trust in God.

They reflect how he offered his life for God and his fellow POWs.

In Father Kapaun’s eyes, his death wasn’t a tragedy, it was a step towards heaven.

As we ask Father Kapaun’s intercession today and celebrate his holy life, let’s try to imitate his trust.

It’s all in God’s hands.
